The Architects Council of New York (ACNY) is proposing to bring together the diverse Professional Architectural and Engineering organizations in the City of New York to form the United Architects & Engineers Foundation (UAEF), a not-for-profit Foundation that provides academic & practical education in building regulations under the jurisdiction of the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB).

The UAEF is set to revolutionize the NYC construction industry through its proposed Building Regulations Training Program. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive academic and practical education on NYC's building regulations, targeting both NYC Department of Buildings’ technical staff and professional practitioners. By filling a gap where a holistic and systematic program was absent, UAEF seeks to ensure that professionals are well-versed in the laws, codes, and rules unique to New York City, enhancing compliance and oversight for the public's safety and welfare.

Sheldon Lobel, in his final official act as President of the Zoning Advisory Council (ZAC), bestowed his endorsement on the UAEF and its NYC Building Regulations Training Program. This endorsement not only underscores the program's significance in fostering a safer, more compliant built environment but also highlights Lobel's lasting impact and vision for a future where education and collaboration bridge the gap between architectural and engineering practices and regulatory standards, ensuring a resilient and thriving New York City.
